Introducing PM Pediatrics Behavioral Health, a robust consultation and therapy program conducted virtually

At PM Pediatrics we believe in the health of the whole child or young adult —from the physical to the emotional to the behavioral, and every space in between.

And we recognize that the pandemic has caused a significant increase in behavioral health needs for children and young adults ages 5 and up.

We support multiple needs of our patients and their families with a wide-range of services including therapy, medication management when indicated, nutrition, and sleep experts. Our focus goes beyond mental health needs and emphasizes the overall wellness of the patient and family.

That’s why we are proud to introduce the PM Pediatrics Behavioral Health program. With this new offering, we are committed to providing the same high level of evidence-based treatment found in our urgent cares, to children’s and young adult’s behavioral health needs—so together, we can keep your children healthy, happy, and safe.

Our approach to behavioral health

Too often behavioral health is treated in a silo. When it comes to your child’s care, we know the best outcomes are a result of open communication, partnership, and personalization.

PM Pediatrics Behavioral Health is individually designed to fit your family’s unique needs and schedule, providing you with high quality, comprehensive care that includes close collaboration with your child’s family, pediatrician, and school, if needed.

Our top quality care is carried out by expert pediatric providers who will seamlessly exchange information with your primary pediatrician.

Our program is available for non-emergency mental health conditions in children and young adults 5-26 years old who are currently living in New Jersey, including:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • OCD
  • PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder)
  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
  • Conduct Disorders
  • School Avoidance, Family Issues
  • Parenting support
  • Grief support
  • Sleep Coaching (ages 0-26)

Any child or young adult at risk of immediately harming themselves or others should be seen in an emergency department.

How our program works:

After thorough evaluation using input from you, your child, and health professionals who know your child best, your child will be matched with a member of our team of expert - Licensed Therapists, Child Psychologists, Social Workers, Certified Sleep Coaches and Pediatricians with specialty training in medication, if needed.

Teletherapy sessions start at $125. We will provide you with a receipt to submit to your insurance for reimbursements. In the near future we hope to offer these services via managed care contracts. Please note at this time, PM Pediatrics Behavioral Health is currently only available for New Jersey families.

Meet our team of experts

The PM Pediatrics Behavioral Health team is composed of exceptional Licensed Child Psychologists, Licensed Social Workers, Certified Sleep Coaches, a pediatrician with psychopharmacology training, and your assigned Care Coordinator who will work side-by-side with your family and your child to guide you every step of the way!

Getting started

For patients over 18: please follow the instructions below. A parent/care-giver should complete the necessary forms for all children under 18.

  1. First complete our request for BEHAVIORAL HEALTH APPOINTMENT FORM, which requests some basic information about your/your child’s needs.
  2. Our Care Coordinator will review your information and contact you within 72 hours to schedule your appointment.
  3. At the appointment, we will do an interview of both parent and child or young adult. Following, we’ll administer a behavioral health screening questionnaire(s). Upon review of the intake information and screening questionnaire(s), the care coordinator will meet with you to discuss your/your child’s initial treatment plan (ITP). There may be conditions we will not be able to treat but have a robust list of community resources to help you/your child find the care needed.
  4. After completing this screening and intake, you/your child will be matched with an appropriate care provider for ongoing further evaluation and treatment.

Your care provider will work closely with you/your child to develop the best treatment plan, identify goals, and schedule the necessary visits. If medication is part of the treatment, your provider will discuss this with you and make the referral to our physicians.

PM Pediatrics Behavioral Health is currently only available for New Jersey families at this time.
