What is telemedicine?

Telemedicine is a way to have a medical visit with a pediatrician using your smartphone, tablet or a computer with a webcam. Instead of going to an office or hospital, you can access the care from the comfort of your home or wherever you are.

What are the benefits of telemedicine over in-person visits?

Telemedicine is able to provide the same high level of care from the comfort of your home and reduces the amount of time missed from work or school to go to the office. With health concerns dominating the news, we know how important it is to have a trusted resource you can access from the convenience and safety of your home. PM Pediatrics Anywhere is available anytime, wherever you are, to provide that reliable care.

Where is Telemedicine available?

Right now the PM Pediatrics telemedicine program is available in Alaska, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington D.C. We are growing our telemedicine offering and have plans to expand beyond these states.

What can be treated with telemedicine?

Many common pediatric illnesses can be treated effectively with telemedicine. These include:

Who are the pediatric specialists who will treat my child?

Your child will be seen by a pediatrician, pediatric physician assistant or pediatric nurse practitioners. Our PM Pediatrics physicians are board certified in pediatrics and many have multiple subspecialty training and board certifications. All of our PM Pediatrics healthcare professionals are experts in pediatrics and licensed to practice medicine in your state.

How long is the wait to see a clinician?

Connecting you to a pediatric expert only takes a few minutes; in most cases the wait is less than 10 minutes.

How secure is my visit?

PM Pediatrics Anywhere is fully HIPAA compliant and secure.  You can be assured that your conversations with the clinician and your records are secure and private.

Will insurance cover my telemedicine visit?

At the time of the telemedicine visit, Patients with Commercial Insurance will have a $25 copay. Click here to view our participating insurance companies. Patients with Medicaid or TRICARE will have $0 copay. Your insurance company will determine any additional financial responsibilities you may have based on the specifics of your individual policy. Patients with Non-Participating Commercial Insurance will be billed a total charge of $65.

For a telemedicine visit exclusively for COVID assessment, we will not collect a copay at the time of service. A claim will be submitted to your insurance to determine your individual financial responsibility. Patients with Non-Participating Commercial Insurance or Medicare will be billed a total charge of $65. If the telemedicine provider determines that a Rapid Antigen test is indicated, there will be an additional $35 billed. The in-office COVID PCR and Antibody tests are special tests, which will be sent to an outside laboratory. The laboratory will submit a claim to your insurance and will determine if you have any additional financial responsibility.

How much is a telemedicine visit if I am not currently covered by insurance?

If you are not covered by insurance, you will be billed a total charge of $65. The $65 will be considered payment in full and there will be no further charges. For a telemedicine visit exclusively for COVID assessment, we will submit a claim to the appropriate state program for those without insurance. If you do not qualify for the state program, you will be billed as above.

How will I get a prescription if needed?

Any prescriptions will be e-prescribed to the pharmacy of your choice.

How will I get a school or work excuse note if needed?

Your clinician can create a work or school excuse note, which can be easily accessed through your PM pediatrics Anywhere account.

What technology is required to use PM Pediatrics Anywhere?

You may use any computer, tablet or smartphone that has a web camera and video capability. Our mobile app is available on both iOS (iPhone or iPad) or Android mobile platforms. Performance may be improved by connecting through Wi-Fi when possible.

Does each member of the family need a separate account?

No. You can create an account for yourself and add your children or other family members to that account.  This allows all of your information for each family member to be in the same account.

What if the clinician cannot diagnose my problem with a telemedicine visit?

In some instances, the clinician may discover a more serious condition that requires your child to be seen in person for a more thorough examination or testing that is not available at home.  In these cases, our clinician will work with you to decide the appropriate level of follow-up (office vs. urgent care vs. emergency room) as well as whether follow-up needs to be immediate or the next day. In all cases, our goal is to make sure your child receives the appropriate care for their condition.
