Telemedicine is a way to have a medical visit with a pediatrician using your smartphone, tablet or a computer with a webcam. Instead of going to an office or hospital, you can access the care from the comfort of your home or wherever you are.
Telemedicine is able to provide the same high level of care with much greater access (24/7/365 anywhere in the state) and reduces the amount of time missed from work or school to go to the office.
Right now telemedicine is exclusive to Alaska. We are growing our telemedicine offering and have plans to expand beyond Alaska in 2020.
Many of the common pediatric illnesses can be treated effectively with telemedicine. These include:
Your child will be seen by a pediatrician, pediatric physician assistant or pediatric nurse. Our PM Pediatrics physicians are board certified in pediatrics and many have multiple subspecialty training and board certifications. All of our PM Pediatrics healthcare professionals are experts in pediatrics and licensed to practice medicine in your state.
Connecting you to a pediatric expert only takes a few minutes; in most cases the wait is less than 10 minutes.
PM Pediatrics Anywhere is fully HIPAA compliant and secure. You can be assured that your conversations with the clinician and your records are secure and private.
In most cases your insurance company will cover the visit. You will be responsible for any copays or deductible, which varies by your specific insurance plan. The total cost will vary based on your insurance and the complexity of the problem but should be similar to or less than an equivalent office visit.
If you are not submitting insurance, a flat rate of $75 applies for each visit per patient. You will be contacted for billing and credit card information.
Any prescriptions will be e-prescribed to the pharmacy of your choice.
Your clinician can create a work or school excuse note, which can be easily accessed through your PM pediatrics Anywhere account.
You may use any computer, tablet or smartphone that has a web camera and video capability. Our mobile app is available on both iOS (iPhone or iPad) or Android mobile platforms. Performance may be improved by connecting through Wi-Fi when possible.
You can reach us 24 hours a day at 855-616-2469.
No. You can create an account for yourself and add your children or other family members to that account. This allows all of your information for each family member to be in the same account.
In some instances, the clinician may discover a more serious condition that requires your child to be seen in person for a more thorough examination or testing that is not available at home. In these cases, our clinician will work with you to decide the appropriate level of follow-up (office vs. urgent care vs. emergency room) as well as whether follow-up needs to be immediate or the next day. In all cases, our goal is to make sure your child receives the appropriate care for their condition.
